The Cold and Flu Kit - Everything You Need to Hibernate and Heal
Full product description
The worst part of getting sick is not the first day. It is the moment on day one when you realize you are out of tissues, you have no throat drops, the pain reliever bottle in the cabinet expired in 2022, and now you have to put on real clothes and go to a store.
The Cold & Flu Rescue Kit is the bag you buy before that happens. Five things that cover the actual symptoms, assembled ahead of time, sitting on the counter so you can grab it on your way through and put it in the cabinet where it will wait for you.
What's inside
Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier, 6 stick packs, strawberry.
Fever, sweating, and not drinking enough because swallowing hurts is how a bad cold turns into a genuinely miserable week. An electrolyte mix does more for you than plain water when you are running a fever, and a stick pack you stir into a glass is something you will actually do at 3 a.m. Six sticks covers most of a full illness.
Extra Strength Pain Relief. Acetaminophen 500 mg, 24 gelcaps.
Fever reducer and pain reliever in one. The body aches, the headache behind your eyes, the low grade fever that makes everything feel worse than it is. Twenty four gelcaps is a real supply, not a travel pack, so you are not rationing on day three.
Saline Nasal Spray, 1.5 fl oz.
No medication, no rebound congestion, no limit on how often you use it. Saline loosens what is stuck, moisturizes passages that heating and dry air have wrecked, and is safe alongside almost anything else you are taking. This is the item most people skip and then wish they had.
Luden's Sugar Free Throat Drops, wild cherry, 25 count.
Pectin lozenges that coat and soothe a raw throat. Sugar free, which matters if you are diabetic or just do not want to eat twenty five pieces of candy while you are already run down. Twenty five drops lasts through the days when talking hurts.
Pocket Tissues, 2 packs.
Soft ones. Anyone who has spent a week with cheap tissues and a raw nose understands why this is in the bag and not an afterthought.
Why we put it together
We watched the same scene over and over at the counter. Somebody comes in already sick, standing there in a sweatshirt, moving slowly, trying to remember what they are out of. They get three of the five things they need and go home. Two days later somebody in their household comes back for the rest.
So we built it in advance. One decision instead of five, and you leave with the right things instead of whatever you happened to think of while feeling terrible.
The smarter move is buying it before you need it. Put it in the hall closet in October and forget about it. The night it matters, it is already there.
Who this is for
Anyone heading into cold and flu season who does not want a midnight store run. Parents stocking a house where one kid getting sick means everyone gets sick. College students. People who live alone and have nobody to send out for supplies. It also makes a legitimately good gift to drop off for a friend or coworker who is down, since it is the exact set of things they are too sick to go get.
Safety
Read and follow the directions on each package. A few things worth knowing:
Acetaminophen has a daily maximum and it hides in a lot of combination cold and flu products. If you are also taking a multi symptom medicine, check the label before adding these gelcaps on top. Doubling up is the most common way people get into trouble with it.
Saline spray is safe to use as often as you want. Medicated decongestant sprays are not, and should not be used more than three days in a row.
If a fever runs high or lasts more than a few days, if you have trouble breathing, or if symptoms improve and then suddenly get worse again, that is a doctor visit, not a bag from the counter.
If you take other medications, are pregnant, have a health condition, or are buying this for a child, call and ask us. That conversation is free and we would rather have it than not.
