The Travel Kit exists because that situation is predictable, and the fix is cheap if you handle it before you leave. We put the four things people actually reach for on a trip into one bag you can drop in a carry on and forget about until the moment you need it.
 
What's inside
Motion Sickness Relief. Meclizine HCl 25 mg, 8 tablets. The workhorse for anyone who gets green on planes, boats, back seats, and winding mountain roads. Meclizine is the same active ingredient in the name brand versions sold at three times the price in the terminal. Eight tablets covers a round trip with room to spare, and it works best when taken about an hour before you travel rather than after you already feel sick.
 
Anti-Diarrheal. Loperamide HCl 2 mg, 24 softgels. For the street food that seemed like a good idea at the time, the hotel breakfast buffet, or the water somewhere new. Twenty four softgels is a real supply, not a two dose sample, which matters when you are a long way from a store that stocks it and even further from one that stocks it at a reasonable price.
 
Extra Strength Pain Reliever. Acetaminophen 500 mg, 6 single dose packets. Sealed foil packets instead of a bottle. No rattling, nothing to spill in your bag, nothing that makes a security screener look twice. Covers the tension headache from a red eye, the neck that hurt from sleeping upright, and the general aches that come with sitting in one position for six hours.
 
Hand Sanitizer, travel size. Under 3.4 oz and cleared for your quart bag. Tray tables, rental car steering wheels, gas station door handles, hotel remotes. The unglamorous stuff that keeps you from getting sick three days into a trip you paid for.
 
Why we built it this way
We kept watching the same thing happen at the counter. Somebody flying out that afternoon would come in and buy motion sickness tablets, then loperamide, then a bottle of pain reliever they did not want to carry, then remember sanitizer at the last second. Four separate items, four separate decisions, and a good chance they still forgot one.
 
So we assembled it ahead of time. One bag, one price, sitting on the counter where you can pick it up on your way through. It takes ten seconds instead of ten minutes, and you leave with the right things instead of whatever you happened to remember.
 
TSA and travel notes
All four items are travel legal as packaged. The sanitizer is under the liquid limit. The medications are in their original manufacturer packaging with the labeling intact, which is what you want if anyone asks. The pain reliever packets in particular avoid the loose pill problem that occasionally slows people down at screening or at an international border.
 
The kraft bag itself is not a security container. Move the contents into your quart bag and carry on as you see fit.
 
Who this is for
Business travelers who fly enough to know exactly which of these they will need. Families driving more than four hours with kids in the back. Cruise passengers. Safety
These are over the counter medications with real effects. Read and follow the directions on each package. Meclizine can cause drowsiness, so know how it affects you before driving. Acetaminophen has a daily maximum and appears in a surprising number of combination products, so do not stack it with cold medicine or prescription pain relievers without checking. If diarrhea comes with a high fever or blood, stop the loperamide and see a doctor rather than pushing through it on the road.
